The Shipping Supervisor oversees and works to improve the daily tasks of the shipping team according to specific goals. Supervises and offers leadership to subordinates in accordance with the organization’s policies and guidelines. Responsible for the safety and productivity of a shift of hourly team members. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as needed.

Essential Job Functions


  • Supervise shipping team in day to day tasks – with the outbound processes, shipping, processing and picking.

  • Ensures the overall Safety, Quality, and Productivity of shift of multiple hourly team members.

  • Manage multiple priorities against tight deadlines by maneuvering the workforce to meet the workload

  • Ensure shipping, picking, and processing goals are met.

  • Supervise safety programs in warehouse that includes meetings, trainings and record keeping standards are met or exceeded.

  • Encourage open communication with staff and pursue process improvements and efficiencies while maintaining a positive, results-oriented work environment in the warehouse.

  • You must be self-directed and able to work on your own, have strong attention to detail, great communication skills, the capability to analyze reports and information to improve processes and business outcomes.

  • Team Building-this includes training and coaching team members along with driving camaraderie within the workplace.


Requirements


  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with diverse personalities.

  • Experience supervising, developing, training, counseling and motivating employees.

  • 3 + years in a supervisory role within a shipping and/or manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a shipping/warehouse environment supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment with an Associates degree in business or logistics or combined equivalent of education and experience.

  • The ability to make decisions, problem solve, prioritize assignments and direct the workforce in an ever-changing, warehouse environment.

  • Must have strong communication skills, problem solving and analytical abilities, and be a self-starter. Individual must be highly assertive and able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be detail oriented.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
